Week twelve share

I'm a bit late on the posting today.......It has been a busy, sticky morning on the farm, but Tera is off with the veggies.....on a personal note, I'm feeling quite anxious lately, I think my body's stuck between summer and fall, anyone else feeling something similar?.....I will have to be patient though.......Today's details:

  • Eggplant (Ping Tung & Fairy Tale, we like these small eggplants the best. eggplants like the smoky flavor imparted by the grill.)
  • Carrots (Rainbow blend, nothing quite like a fresh carrot, sky's the limit with carrots, raw, roasted, juiced, shredded in breads)
  • Cucumber (Tendergreen & Strait Eight....sliced up with radish and tossed with lemon juice & oil and a little cilantro or parsley is the perfect side dish)
  • Zucchini (Cube of Butter & Giambo & toss with mint and garlic for a nice side, shred it for breads, & eat raw in salads.)
  • Packman Broccoli (We harvested these at peak ripeness, enjoy raw or lightly cooked,or try roasting the broccoli and toss with a tahini cream sauce: tahini thinned with yogurt, lemon juice and water until creamy, toss roasted broccoli with sauce and mix in a handful of chopped parsley)
  • Herbs (Parsley, Basil)
  • Tomatoes ( Everybody's favorite. Its a blend of various varieties, big and small.....make a simple tomato salad: chunk tomatoes, add garlic, loads of basil, capers (a must!), spicy chile, and toss with balsamic vinegar & olive oil & salt/pepper.....we eat ours with some grilled bread and fresh Mozzarella cheese drizzled with oil and chiles and salt and pepper.
  • Red Onion (We love the allium's.......our immune system does too)
  • Toscano Kale (try kale chips: tear kale into pieces toss with oil and salt and roast on a sheet pan in a 300 degree oven until crisp......try spicing things up by adding hot smoked paprika, or dried dill.)
