Week ten share

I had quite an interesting find on the farm the other day. While dragging out some fallen timber from the grove, I unearthed what was left of a old wooden wheeled wagon. I'm sure no human has laid eyes on that old wagon in over a century. I was quite humbled to come across such a relic. Below are the details of week ten.

  • Eggplant (Ping Tung & Fairy Tale, I like these small eggplants the best. I made an awesome tempura platter the other night and the fried Fairy tale eggplant (the small adorable ones) were the stars, i suggest you give Tempura eggplant a try. We substituted Kombucha for seltzer water.)
  • Carrots (Scarlet Nantes, nothing quite litke a fresh carrot, sky's the limit with carrots, raw, roasted, juiced, shredded in breads)
  • Cucumber (Tendergreen & Strait Eight....I just made a batch of Cucumber Kim chi and it is supperb. If you're into spicy, salty, fermented pleasures, this is a must! )
  • Zucchini (Cube of Butter & Giambo... we eat loads of this veg.....we grill it & toss with mint and garlic for a nice side, shred it for breads, & eat raw in salads.)
  • Packman Broccoli (Used most recently in our Tempura platter.)
  • Tomato (cut up and tossed with cukes, fresh garlic, capers, oil & balsamic vinegar, a little salt and pepper and your set!)
  • Mesclun blend
  • Toscano Kale (try kale chips: tear kale into pieces toss with oil and salt and roast on a sheet pan in a 300 degree oven until crisp......try spicing things up by adding hot smoked paprika, or dried dill.)
